An Analysis of Liao's Absorbing Boundary Conditiony
نویسندگان
چکیده
A theoretical and numerical analysis of Liao's absorbing boundary condition (ABC) is presented. The form of the ABC is related to both space-time polynomial extrapolation and a one-way wave equation. A modi cation allowing the optimization of the ABC for speci c angles of incidence or wave speeds is discussed. The stability of the ABC is also discussed, and a technique is presented for enhancing stability. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the stability and accuracy of the ABC. 2

Perfectly Matched Layers for Elastodynamics: A New Absorbing Boundary Condition
The use of perfectly matched layers (PML) has recently been introduced by Berenger as a material absorbing boundary condition (ABC) for electromagnetic waves. In this paper, we will rst prove that a ctitious elastodynamic material half-space exists that will absorb an incident wave for all angles and all frequencies. Moreover, the wave is attenuative in the second half-space. As a consequence, ...
متن کاملFree Vibration Analysis of a Six-degree-of-freedom Mass-spring System Suitable for Dynamic Vibration Absorbing of Space Frames
This study is concentrated on the natural frequencies and mode shapes of a simple three-member space frame coupled with a dynamic vibration absorber. The dynamic vibration absorber is modeled as a six-degree-of-freedom mass-spring system. For the first time, the free vibration of an elastic structure with a six-degree-of-freedom mass-spring system is found. Each member of the space frame has un...
متن کاملCompressed Absorbing Boundary Conditions via Matrix Probing
Absorbing layers are sometimes required to be impractically thick in order to offer an accurate approximation of an absorbing boundary condition for the Helmholtz equation in a heterogeneous medium. It is always possible to reduce an absorbing layer to an operator at the boundary by layer-stripping elimination of the exterior unknowns, but the linear algebra involved is costly. We propose to by...
متن کاملAbsorbing Boundary Conditions for the Schrödinger Equation
A large number of differential equation problems which admit traveling waves are usually defined on very large or infinite domains. To numerically solve these problems on smaller subdomains of the original domain, artificial boundary conditions must be defined for these subdomains. One type of artificial boundary condition which can minimize the size of such subdomains is the absorbing boundary...
متن کاملn-Times Absorbing Boundary Conditions for Compact Finite-Difference Modeling of Acoustic and Elastic Wave Propagation in the 2D TI Medium
This article presents decoupling n-times absorbing boundary conditions designed to model acoustic and elastic wave propagation in a 2D transversely isotropic (TI) medium. More general n-times boundary conditions with absorbing parameters are also obtained by cascading first-order differential operators with parameters. These boundary conditions are approximated with simple finite-difference sch...
